Who, What, When
Computer classes and activities for parents are being offered in Fremont County by several local school districts and the Fremont County Board of Cooperative Educational Services (FC BOCES). Classes and activities will be run at various times through the remainder of the school year at eight Fremont County School Districts.
Why
The classes will help parents find educational resources on the Internet and use basic software such as word processors. The classes will help parents help their students with using these tools in school and at home. All parents and guardians are encouraged to attend.

Class Topics
Classes will include such topics as Windows, educational resources on the Internet, e-mail, Word, Desktop Publishing and school district specific topics and activities.
Technology training is provided by the Fremont County Consortium is cooperative effort of FCSD #2 (Dubois); FCSD #6 (Wind River-Pavillion); FCSD #14 (Wyoming Indian-Ethete); FCSD #24 (Shoshoni); FCSD #25 (Riverton FCSD #21 (Fort Washakie); FCSD #38 (Arapahoe) and Fremont County BOCES located in Riverton. The program is funded under the Title IID Competitive Grant and is designed to provide technology training for teachers, school district staff, parents and other community members.
Classes offered include:
Windows I - 2 hrs
Basic Intro to the Windows Operating System - Provides the student with a non-technical definition of an operating system including: start-up and shutdown procedures, components, functions, dialog boxes and starting applications in the Windows desktop environment. For students with little or no experience with the computer. Microsoft Windows XP will be taught with references to Windows 98 and Windows 2000.
Windows II - 2 hrs
More Advanced Windows Operating System Topics - Transferring information between programs, viewing information on hard drives, configuring the computer using control panel, learning to perform basic maintenance and more. For the more experienced computer user. Microsoft Windows XP will be taught with references to Windows 98 and Windows 2000. Completion of "Windows I" is recommended.
Internet I - 2 hrs
Basic Intro to the Internet - Learn how to use your browser, do basic searches, use email and more. For the student with little or no experience with the Internet. Basic knowledge of the computer and the operating system (equivalent to Windows I & II) is expected.
Internet II - 2 hrs
More Advanced Internet Topics - Learn how to do advanced searches, use advanced email features, use the Internet for personal business such as shopping and banking, and more. For the more experienced Internet user. Completion of Internet I course is recommended.
Microsoft Word I - 2 hrs
Basic Intro to the MS Word- Learn how to create, save, open, print and format basic Word documents. For the student with little or no experience with Microsoft Word. Basic knowledge of the computer and the operating system (equivalent to Windows I & II) is expected.
Microsoft Word II - 2 hrs
More Advanced Microsoft Word Topics - Learn how to do advanced formatting, import images, fancy fonts and interfacing with other Microsoft programs. For the more experienced Word user. Completion of Microsoft Word I is recommended.
Microsoft PowerPoint I
Basic intro to Microsoft PowerPoint - Using design templates, creating different views in the presentation, viewing and saving a presentation, intro to auto-content wizard. For the student with little or no experience with the PowerPoint. Basic knowledge of the computer and the operating system (equivalent to Windows Iand II) is expected.
Microsoft PowerPoint II
More advanced Microsoft PowerPoint topics - For the more experienced PowerPoint user. Adding images and drawing objects on the slide, accessing images on the web, working with slide master for global changes and creating custom backgrounds and color schemes. Microsoft PowerPoint 2000 will be taught. Completion of "PowerPoint I" course is recommended.
Microsoft Excel I - 2 hrs
Basic intro to Microsoft Excel - Learn how to create, save, open, print and format basic Excel Spreadsheets. Basic cell, column and row theory will be covered. For the student with little or no experience with Microsoft Excel. Basic knowledge of the computer and the operating system (equivalent to Windows I & II) is expected.
Microsoft Excel II - 2 hrs
More advanced Microsoft Excel topics - Learn how to do advanced formatting, import images, fancy fonts and interfacing with other Microsoft programs. For the more experienced Excel user. Completion of "Excel I" course is recommended.
Microsoft Publisher I - 2 hrs
Basic Intro to Microsoft Publisher. Using design templates, creating different brochures and/or cards, viewing and saving, intro to auto-content wizard. Microsoft Publisher II - 2 hrs
More Advanced Microsoft Publisher - Advanced topics in brochure/business card layouts will be covered. For the more experienced Publisher user. Completion of Publisher I is recommended.
Microsoft Access I - 2 hrs
Basic Intro to Microsoft Access - Gain knowledge about relational databases in general. Learn to design a database this is useful and appropriate for your needs. Design multiple tables and simple reports. For the student with little or no experience with the Microsoft Access. Basic knowledge of the computer and the operating system (equivalent to Windows I & II) is expected.
Microsoft Access II - 2 hrs
More Advanced Microsoft Access Topics - Create, manipulate, retrieve and output data accurately & quickly using forms, queries and advanced reporting features. For the more experienced Access user. Completion of "Access I" is recommended.
SmartBoard I - 2 hrs
Basic Intro to the SmardBoard - Learn how to set up the SmartBoard including connecting to a PC and data projector. This course will cover the basic functions, saving and printing sessions. Completion of Windows I & II, Internet I & II and two other quick classes is recommended.
SmartBoard II - 2 hrs
More Advanced SmardBoard Topics - Learn about notepad, recorder and video player. This course will also cover interfacing with specialized internet SmartBoard web pages. Completion of SmartBoard I is recommended.
