Continuing Your Alliance with Microsoft
By now you are aware that the end of the AATP program is quickly
approaching
with the transition to the new Microsoft IT Academy Program. As of
January
31, 2002, all AATP program benefits - including licensing and the ability
to
purchase MOC - will terminate.
Please note that at that time, the following conditions of your AATP
Agreement, Section 6, will go into effect:
Upon expiration of the term of this Agreement or its termination with
or
without cause, AATP shall: (i) immediately cease identifying itself as a
Microsoft Authorized Academic Training Provider Institution and cease
all
use of the Microsoft Academic Training Provider Logo; (ii) immediately
cease
any use of the Limited Software License set forth in Section 5 (which
concurrently terminates) and erase the copies of the Software made
pursuant
thereto; and (iii) return all unused Training materials to Microsoft.
(Note:
Microsoft is waiving the requirement in section (iii); you are not
required
to return unused training materials.)
AATP members have been eligible for the academic MOC pricing benefit,
which
will no longer be available when the program ends. This means that the
MOC
courseware you have been able to purchase for US$75 per five-day course
will
no longer be available. To serve any MOC needs beyond January 31, 2002, -
or
until you become a Microsoft IT Academy - consider placing advance
orders
now to help smooth your transition.
If you have not already considered doing so, we invite you to continue
your
alliance with Microsoft and become a member of the new Microsoft IT
Academy
Program today. More than 150 academic institutions have applied for
membership since November and many are already taking advantage of early
training on Windows® XP this month.
Academy members receive immeasurable support from the program benefits.
For
instance:
- Early access to Beta products - reducing the lag time for
integrating
new technologies into curriculum
- Faculty training - critical for continual upskilling
- Early curriculum integration of new certifications - like the
Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA) that debuts in January
2002
- And various community-building avenues help members network and
share
best practices.
In reality, the market value of the IT Academy benefits is five times
greater than the cost of membership.
