Fremont County BOCES is an accredited training unit for the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER). The Green Construction Academy is also a member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).
The Green Construction Academy operates two separate programs under the direction of BOCES. High School programs are run as an elective class in Pathfinder, Shoshoni and Riverton. Summer Academies are run for 5-6 weeks as an on-the-job training experience. Participants work on a local project that uses green technology. You learn strong work ethic and skills to get hired and retain your valuable employment and begin your job search with your own construction tool belt.
The Green Construction Academy will prepare its participants for a range of entry level career opportunities and life-long job skills in green construction industries like:
• Construction laborer
• Entry level carpenter
• Building supply sales
• Building maintenance
• Beginning cabinetry
• Home weatherization
• Home repair
• Energy auditor
Summer 2012 Green Construction Academy
Sign up now for a summer job in Construction. Two Green Construction Academy classes are going to be held in Fremont County this summer. The first will be in Dubois from June 11 - 29, 2012, and the second in Riverton from July 9 - August 10, 2012. These classes offer:
- Paid work experience for ages 16-21*
- Beginning Construction and/or Level I Carpentry
- Construction tool best FREE to all graduations
- Completion Certificate
- National certifications offered
- Assistance in future job placement
Prerequisites for participating in the Green Construction Academy are as follows: 1) mandatory orientation session; 2) Social Security card; 3) ability to pass a drug test.
